vSwarm Client Usage
After you finished the ClientInstallation you can start participating in the vSwarm Network.
Windows Client
Starting the Client
To start the vSwarm Client using windows. Just go to the Windows Start menu and select the vSwarm Client entry or if you selected during installation to create a Desktop icon. Double click on it.
First start of the vSwarm Client
After you first started the Client, you will be asked to supply the login data.
Please enter the username and password you did supply during your registration to vSwarm.
After that you can leave the dialog and you are ready to look for tasks to be processed by you.
"Start working"
Hey the headline says it all. To process jobs you now only have to hit the start working button and here you go :-) That's easy, right?
Stop working
To stop the processing of tasks there is a second button named "Stop working". Hitting this button ONCE will stop processing of further jobs after the actual job has been completed. Hit the button one more time, will abort processing immediately. Most of the time this is not what you want to do, as you won't receive credits for the aborted task.
Configuring the Client
To configure the vSwarm Client select "Settings --> Options" in the vSwarm menu.
The options window consists of two tabs. One to configure the "Login data" and one tab for "Advanced Settings".
Login Data
Here you can set your username and password.
To Change the login data visit the vSwarm Web Control Center.
Advanced Settings
Startup Settings
If you want to automatically start the processing of tasks select "Auto start".
The second option "Minimize on calculation start" sends the client to the system tray.
System Settings
Process Priority
With this option you can set the priority of the vSwarm Client process. If you want to work while processing tasks without noticeable interruption, "Low" priority is your choice.
If you want to have a lot of work done fast, "normal" priority is the right setting. This should not interrupt your work on a modern PC, but you might expirience some time delay when using your PC.
Memory
Set the maximum memory the vSwarm Client task can use.
When you start vSwarm for the first time, the client calculates a reasonable amount of memory to be used by the client. If you want to change this setting, use the slider to set the memory amount you want the client to use.
Note: The minimum amount of RAM for the vSwarm Client is 256 MB.
Linux and Mac Client
Sorry, right now we are working on both clients. In the nearterm future the Linux Client will be available for the Mac Client give us a bit more time...
